Ultrasonic Algae Control | |
---|---|
Overview | Ultrasonic algae control is a technology that is proven useful for controlling algae in lakes, reservoirs, and industrial applications by using ultrasonic wave signals to destroy the algae cell structure. |
How Does it Work | A high frequency ultrasound waves(20KHz-200Khz) are introduced on the water surface. When the ultrasonic wave frequency matches algae gas vacuoles natural frequency, the gas vacuoles starts resonating and eventually collapse. This reduces the buoyancy of the cells which causes them to settle down to the bottom. At the bottom, less sunlight is available for photosynthesis, and cells dies and decomposes naturally. |
